Rules are Rules... Sort of
The Township of Chatsworth and District, Moggie Valley Timber Inc., Midget Rep Rebels participated in the West Grey Midget Tournament over the weekend and things didn't turn out quite as they would have liked.

First, TCD faced off against the Hanover Falcons.  There was some excellent hockey at both ends of the ice with both goalies needing to make some strong saves.  Unfortunately, once again the Rebel powerplay deserted them and they barely got out of their own end with the man advantage.  Even strength, the Rebels played well except for a tendency to leave men open in front of their own net.
Things remained even, until late in the second when the Rebels once again ended up in the box and the Falcons took advantage when the Rebel goalie lost his stick and took the lead 1 - 0.
The first half of the third saw the Rebels hanging back but finally, half-way through the third, they started attacking the puck.  Eventually, Jake Moran fired at the net, Calvin Stewart blasted the rebound and Hunter Schultz managed to sweep in the rebound to even the game with under 4 minutes left in the game.
Goalie Lawson Cumming was forced to make a number of saves before the period ended while Rebels had a few more chances of their own.  As regulation time ran out, the score remained tied and the teams headed to overtime.
Rebels jumped out hard in the overtime and Austin McComb assisted as Josh Currie scored to end the game 2 - 1 in the Rebels favour.

Game 2, saw the Rebels versus the West Grey Warriors.  Things were even with good hockey at both ends of the ice and Cumming making some nice saves.  Unfortunately, once again, Rebels ended up with a player in the penalty box which allowed the Warriors to score with less than a minute left in the first.
The great saves by Cumming continued into the third.  Part way through the third, a pass from Austin King found McComb who went on a rush up the ice and put it in to even the game at 1 all.
The Rebels seemed to fall apart in the final minutes of the third and couldn't stay out of the penalty box.  A player left all alone in front of the Rebel net roofed one to give West Grey the lead and then another went in from an impossible angle to make it 3 - 1.    In the end, Warriors scored an empty netter to end the game.

Rebels then had to wait around to see who would move on to the finals.  Unfortunately, after some dispute about the published rules, TCD was edged out and were headed home without getting to play in a third game.

Rebels hit the ice again on Thursday, December 5 @ 8:30 in Shallow Lake to take on the Lakers.
Let's Go Rebels!!!
