Stewart Scores 2 as Rebels End Round Robin with 2 Ties
The Township of Chatsworth and District, Moggie Valley Timber Inc., Midget Rep Rebels are participating in the Wingham International Silver Stick this week and after 2 nights of snowy drives they came away with a total of 2 points.

The Rebels faced off against Blyth once again during their first game of the tournament.  After having played poorly against the Crusaders during their last game it was hoped that a much stronger effort be put forth by the Rebels this time around.  After a difficult drive and a scramble to attend an early game several players were forced to cut it close to game time when arriving and the game started with only a partial squad.
TCD seemed to have a little more jump than during the last meeting and eventually, Calvin Stewart scored at 9:08 of the first (assist to Colby McComb).  The Rebels seemed to scramble at times and play more cohesively at others.  There were a number of major break downs were the Rebels just seemed to crumble.  At 1:14 of the first, the Crusaders evened the game.
Rebels came back and Hunter Schultz assisted Stewart on his second goal of the game as they retook the lead with only 3 seconds remaining in the first.
Period two saw the full Rebels squad dressed to play for the first time all season.  Play continued with chances at both ends but the Rebels play still lacked consistency.  The Rebels were unable to score and once again the opponents had more shots on net during Rebels powerplays than Rebels managed.
Rebels continued to maintain their 2 - 1 lead through the second and well into the third.  Crusaders managed to score to even the game with just over 5 minutes left in the third.  Rebels were unable to score to retake the lead and the game ended in a tie 2 - 2.  Stewart received the player of the game for the Rebels.

The Rebels faced off against the Flesherton Golden Hawks for their second game of the tournament.  The Rebels moved at a faster pace during game 2.  There was a lot of end to end play, but the Rebels got very few scoring opportunities while Rebel goalie Lawson Cumming was forced to make a number of saves including standing up to multiple breakaways.  As the first period ended, the score was still tied at 0 all.
After the mid-point of the second the Rebels finally got a passing play going and eventually, Wyatt Golem passed out to Jordan Beirnes on the point who buried it behind the Flesherton  goalie to give the Rebels the 1 - 0 lead.  Unfortunately, Rebels took a penalty and Flesherton capitalised on the powerplay to even the score.  The score remained tied through the remainder of the second and well into the third.  After being denied by Cumming a number of times, the frustrated Golden eventually crashed the net and Cumming was pushed over the line. It was considered a good goal by officials and the Golden Hawks took the lead.
As the period and the game wound down, it looked like Rebels were never going to be able to even the score.  Finally, with just over a minute remaining, Carson Torrie with an assist from Beirnes managed to even the score at 2 - 2.  The game ended in a tie once again, giving the Rebels 2 points in the round robin portion of the tourney.
Play will continue for the Rebels on Saturday.  Time and location will not be determined until all of the other teams have finished their 2 games each which will occur late Friday.
Let's Go Rebels!!!
