The
Chatsworth Legion Branch 464 Peewee Girls HL hit the road for an early morning
game against the Walkerton Capitals on Sunday in Walkerton. The game was back and forth from beginning to
end, finishing in a tie, 2-2.
The Rebels chased the home team after the Capitals scored in the opening minutes of the 1st period. The offense played hard and made several rushes but couldn’t find the back of the net until the 3rd period when Madison Barfoot tied the game, assisted by Rachel Sweiger and Tina Johnson. The Rebels pulled ahead less than a minute later when Kylie Hesch poked one in assisted by Mikaela Humphries. The lead was short lived and the Capitals tied it up at 2 apiece. The Rebels defence kicked it up a notch and denied the Capitals any further scoring opportunities in the game.
Shaila Wellwood was splendid again in goal for the Rebels.
The Rebels play away again in their next match when they face the Saugeen Shores Storm on January 5th 2019 at 3:30pm at the Plex. GO REBELS!
