The TCDMHA Chatsworth Legion Peewee
Girls HL opened their 2018/2019 season with an exciting win against the
Walkerton Capitals on Sunday October 21st at the Walkerton Community
Centre.
In the first period, Kylie Hesch scored the Rebels first goal, picking up a rebound from Madison Barfoot and putting it in the net.
Less than a minute into the 2nd period, Rachel Sweiger got a pass from Miss Barfoot and sent it tape to tape to Ally Dunn who sniped one from the blue line, putting the Rebels ahead by 2. Miss Dunn scored again later in the 2nd with Miss Sweiger getting her 2nd assist of the game, and the Rebels were in the lead 3-0.
The Capitals came to life in the 3rd and closed the gap with two goals. However, the Rebels continued to dominate and Tina Johnson put the biscuit in the basket with 6:53 left in the 3rd, assisted by Kylie Hesch. Walkerton stayed in the hunt and scored again the in 3rd period but the Rebels hung on for the win 4-3. A special ‘shout-out’ goes to Wren Jones who gave it her all and chalked up the win in her goaltending debut.
