Bulldogs chasing Ice Dogs for top spot
The fight for the top spot in the north division is a close
one, with the TCDMHA Power Workers’ Union Midget LL Rebels snapping at the
heels of the division-leading AEMHA Ice Dogs.
Matching the Ice Dogs win for win, the Rebels’ bulldog spirit came out in
full force in last Sunday night’s game in Durham with a solid victory against the
West Grey Warriors.
The Rebels dominated the scoreboard, putting up points in each period. Chris Hardman opened the scoring in the first, finding home with a goal assisted by Jack Scott. In the second, Charlie Scott expanded the Rebels’ lead, pounding home a solo effort. In the third frame, Tiki Stockwell put the finishing touches on a beautiful passing play, scoring the third and final unanswered goal, set up by Brandon Lindstrom and Jordan Longland. Goaltender Jason Rudolph-MacLeod earned his fourth shutout of the season with the Rebels’ decisive 3-0 win over the Warriors.
The victory allows the Rebels to keep a solid hold on 2nd place, three points behind the Ice Dogs, but with a game in hand. The first meeting of the top two teams comes in just a little over two weeks, and then the battle for top dog is officially on!
