Rebels like the view from the top
When the TCDMHA Power Workers’ Union Midget LL Rebels faced down the division-leading Kincardine Kinucks last Sunday in Markdale, and they did what they always do: dig deep and find it.

Heading into their first meeting with Kincardine, the Rebels were in a three-way tie for second place in the North Division, with the undefeated Kinucks alone on top.  The Rebels made sure their gameplay was amped up in every respect: crisp passing, strong board work, excellent fore- and back-checking, forwards who pressured, defense who stood tall at the line and in front of their net, and of course, the usual stellar goaltending from Jason Rudolph-MacLeod who earned himself yet another shutout early in this season.

Even as their lead grew, the Rebels never relaxed their intensity, finding the net a whopping five times, with two goals by team captain, Josh Currie (assisted by Pearce Lacey on the first and Carson Torrie and Talmon Ash on the second), one by assistant captain, Carson Torrie (assisted by Josh Currie), one by assistant captain, Chris Hardman (assisted by Charlie Scott and assistant captain, Duncan Martin), and one by Jake Hartman (assisted by Charlie Scott and Pearce Lacey).

The win immediately propelled the Rebels into first place, which they held until their rivals, the AEMHA Ice Dogs, managed to snatch it away with a win against Shallow Lake.   One thing is certain:  the Rebels’  decisive victory against Kincardine, knocking them out of first place, made a clear statement: the Rebels have come to play – and win – and their sights are set on getting back and keeping that #1 spot!
