Exciting Bantam Local League Action!!
The Township of Chatsworth "Howell Transport" Bantam Local League Team played The Bruce Peninsula Northstars on Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 at the Tara Arena. It had been a while since the Rebels last played and they were ready for their final game of the regular season.
Bruce Peninsula scored the first goal of the game at 7:59. Jack Diaz answered back, with authority, for the Rebels at 5:35, unassisted. The rest of period one saw lots of defensive play as both teams were careful not to allow any more goals.
Rebel's goalie DJ Gamble continued to stop and turn away all pucks that came his way for the entire second period, drawing many cheers from the hometown crowd. At 14:18 in Period Two Amelia Patterson scored for the Rebels. Amelia was assisted by Olivia Houston and Sophie Perry and the crowd went wild.
The third period was very exciting. The Rebels entered the period with a 2 -1 lead. They increased this lead right away at 14:09 when Jack Diaz scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Ethen Blakey. Things were looking really good until Bruce Peninsula scored at 10:38 and again at 8:23 to tie things up again. At 7:58 the Rebels again took the lead with an interesting goal by William Hoare, assisted by Layne Edwards. The remainder of the period saw lots of great plays both ways. Bruce Peninsula pulled their goalie in the final minute of play and scored with just 2.3 seconds on the clock. Wow!! Both teams received a huge ovation for playing such an exciting game.
FINAL SCORE: 4 - 4 Congratulations to both teams!!
