Victory in Port Elgin!!
The Township of Chatsworth "Howell Transport" Bantam Local League Team played the Saugeen Shores Storm LL2 on Saturday, December 1st, 2018 at the Plex in Port Elgin. This game was another late start on a Saturday night....but the Rebels are starting to really enjoy these late night starts, reminiscent of the game twos broadcasted by "Hockey Night in Canada".
This game started with the Rebels adjusting their style of play to the larger ice surface. The Storm scored the first goal at about 5:50. Play continued with James Pinckston scoring with just 5.3 seconds left in the period, assisted by Jacyln Beirnes.
Period Two involved lots of puck movement and opportunities for both teams to gain the upper hand. At the 4:30 mark William Hoare did just that and scored from the blue line, unassisted. This was the only goal of the second period. The Rebels were up 2 - 1 going into the flood.
Period Three would see both teams challenging each other and denying scoring opportunities. At 12:32, The Storm tied things up at two goals apiece. The Rebels put together some rushes but were unable to hit the back of the net. The Rebel's defence played with caution to ensure that no more goals were scored by the Storm. At 2:34, Sophie Perry scored for the Rebels to put them back in the lead, on a play that was initiated by Daniel Mustard. The Rebels went on to hold this lead, even when The Storm pulled their goalie. Rebel's goalie DJ Gamble stood tall throughout the game, making many saves, even some behind his back!!
