Tedford Rebel B's one win away from LLFHL final

The team Tedford Remax Midget B's faced off with the Twin Centre Hericanes on Wednesday night in Tara. The Rebels went in leading one game to none, looking to advance to the LLFHL northwest final.

With a big crowd on hand to cheer on the hometeam, the B's came out flying. Two early opportunities fueled the girls and an early powerplay put the home team on the offensive!
Good puck movement and some traffic in front of the Hericane goal led to a couple more chances but no reward for the Reb's.  The period and momentum swung the other way when the B's found themselves shorthanded.  Penalty killers, Reese Wilkins, Natalie Franks, Lindsay Elliot and Morgan Moran were up to the challenge and the period ended in a scoreless draw.

The second period was a back and forth battle and couldn't have been played more evenly!  The only penalty in the frame was to the Rebels and they killed it off with great defence from Aubrey Urbshott and Hunter Moffatt.

The third opened up fast on the home squad, as the Hericanes forced a neutral zone turnover and then a defensive miscue led to a two on one and a Twin Centre goal!  Again the battle was waged at both ends of the ice as the goalies traded saves to keep the game close!  The Rebels had their chances late in the period with back to back powerplays but could not pull out a tie!  Brontae Frook and Katelynn Lavergne contributed strong play from the B's forwards while Ashlynn Stephenson was the standout in our own end!

Saturday the team played the second of four provincial qualifiers facing off with the Saugeen Shores Storm.  The intensity always ratchets up three notches when these two teams play! Once again, the Rebels came out firing, taking the game to the Storm.  Opportunity came in the form of a powerplay and the Rebels took advantage totally dominating the play.  Tristan Brown fed the left point to Lindsay Elliot whose shot was stopped by the Storm goalie but a rebound was corralled by Natalie Franks and calmly backhanded into the net for a 1-0 lead.
Each team traded powerplay's to end the frame but the score remained 1-0 Rebels.

The Storm gained momentum in the second period.  Again the special teams were the focus as it seemed every whistle resulted in one team heading to the box!  Finally late in the period on a Storm powerplay, a failed clearing attempt led to the Storm drawing even.

The third saw chances at both ends of the ice and ended in a 1-1 draw. The competitive nature that this game held left a great anticipation for the return match Tuesday in Southampton!  As it stands today, the Storm have played three games with four points. The Rebels are holding two points after two games and Kincardine also has two points with three games played.
Should be a fun week with lots on the line!
