Rebel B's take game one of LLFHL semi final

The Team Tedford Remax Midget B Rebels travelled to Wellesley on Sunday afternoon to take on the top seeded Twin Centre Hericanes in the opening game of their LLFHL semi final series.

The Rebels came out of the gate strong and took the game to the Hericanes.  Natalie Franks line with Jade Gilchrist and Reese Wilkins stirred up a couple early chances and Tristan Brown's line of Rachel Mallette and Bronte Frook continued the pressure.
Most of the early chances were the result of a relentless Rebel forecheck as Katelynn Lavergne's line of Grace Kivell and Joren Wilcox continued the assault.
With 1:14 left in the frame, as the Rebels made another line change, Wilcox fed the puck to a surging Natalie Franks and she dished to Jade Gilchrist in the high slot.  Gilchrist fired a low shot on the stick side of the Hericane netminder and the visitors were up 1-0.

The Rebel penalty killers took center stage in the second period, thwarting two Hericane power plays.  Hunter Moffat and Kenna McKee played tight defensively while Franks, Gilchrist, Mallette and Brown all pressured the Twin Centre power play to frustration.  Ashlynn Stephenson did her part in keeping the lead intact with a dynamic save on a breakaway opportunity late in the second!

The Reb's played an aggressive third as the game turned chippy. With under five minutes remaining in the game the Hericanes mounted some pressure and the visitors found themselves short two for over a minute!
Mallette and Wilkins both did a great job with Morgan Moran and Lindsay Elliot to kill off the man advantage.
With three minutes left, Michaela Sadler swept the puck away from an advancing Hericane forward to keep the lead safe. Kenna Mckee grabbed a loose puck circled behind the goal line and looked for a safe outlet pass. With no options and mounting pressure, she fired the puck the length of the ice into an open Twin Centre goal to salt the game away!

Game two will be played in Tara on Wednesday night where the Rebels could advance to the LLFHL West division championship with a win! 8:30 game time.
