Festive season indeed! Rebel B's usher in the new year in style!
Happy New Year from the Team Tedford Remax Midget B's!  The girls shook off some holiday sluggishness and got back to business in the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League.

Saturday the B's took on the Stratford Aces in Markdale.  The first period showed the effects of a lot of good Christmas cooking!  Both teams took some time to bring up the level of intensity.  When they did it was Rachel Mallette and Jade Gilchrist who signalled life in the Rebels legs!  By the end of the frame both had good chances to put the home squad up but they would have to wait until the second as the first ended in a scoreless draw.

It didn't take long into the period when Lindsay Elliot took charge off the draw and bullied her way down the middle and buried a shot to put the Rebels up 1-0!  Natalie Franks drew the lone assist at 9:13.
Some penalty trouble and a breakdown on coverage allowed the Aces to tie the score near the end of the period and the two teams once again went to the next period tied.

Good chances at both ends had each side feeling they could take the contest but both goalies held their ground and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.  Lindsay Elliot was a force on both defence and offence and was a key to the Rebels coming away with a point.

Sunday the Reb's once again played host, this time to chief rivals from Saugeen Shores.
After being robbed in Southampton earlier in the month, the B's had pay back on their minds and that's exactly what they got!
A dedicated attack in the Storm's zone led to the Rebels scoring first. Rachel Mallette hounded the puck out of the corner, got it back to Elliot who dished the puck over to Morgan Moran who fired a perfect shot through traffic and by the goalie! 1-0 Reb's!
The teams traded power play chances but that goal held up as the lone marker of the frame and the second period took a turn to the rougher side as the Rebels were penalized four times to Saugeen's two! It was the home team that found the back of the net though as Moran continued her sharp shooting and pounded one off the crossbar and in to put the Rebels up 2-0! Bronte Frook and Elliot drew assists on the tally.
When a rivalry is played out for as long as this one has been played, it's natural for the intensity to bubble to the top and the rough play continued into the third as both teams continued their parade to the sin bin!
The Rebels were equal to all the challenges that the Storm would throw at them though, as Ashlyn Stephenson provided excellent coverage in goal.
Joren Wilcox salted the game away driving the puck down the right boards and watched her shot dance in front of the goal line!  Determined not to be stopped though, she skated around the net and deposited the loose puck behind the Storm goaltender to make the final 3-0! Bronte Frook assisted on the goal.

The B's begin the new year on the road facing off with Mitchell on Sunday night.
Keep on rolling Reb's!!!
