Rebels Capitalize on Opportunities in Walkerton
The Township of Chatsworth and District, Moggie Valley Timber Inc., Midget Rep Rebels traveled to Walkerton to face the Capitals for the first time this season and came away with another W.
Rebel forward Mason Hanna opened the scoring at the mid-point of the first when a move from Austin King put the puck his way and Hanna's shot found the mesh behind the Capital goalie.
Rebels continued to battle hard and push to extend their lead but it took until 13:19 of the third period before they were able to sneak one into the Capital goal when Austin McComb finally buried one to give the Rebels an insurance goal. The two goal lead was short lived as the Capitals responded less than a minute later when they capitalized on a penalty shot.
Both teams battled hard as the Capitals pushed hard to close the 2 - 1 gap but Rebels also struggled to widen the gap. Finally, with just over 4 minutes left, the Rebels were the ones who were successful as Hunter Schultz scored on a Rebel power play, as he finished a passing play with Jay Rourke and Wyatt Golem.
The game ended 3-1 in favour of the Rebels.
Rebels have back to back games against the Wingham Ironmen on the horizon. First, they face off in regular season play at 2 pm Sunday in Markdale and then they meet again in Silver Stick round robin play at 7:30 pm Tuesday Nov. 13 in Wingham.
Go Rebels Go!!!
