Silver for the Peewees
The Legion Branch 464 Peewee Girls made the road trip to Guelph to enter the Grand River Mustangs Remembrance Day Classic.

Game 1 - vs Guelph Gryphons Peewee B - Starting Fired Up!The team was nervous facing 'B' teams for the entire schedule.  They showed their nerves early on as they fell behind 2-0 to Guelph B Peewee girls going into the third.  The girls then started to pour it on with Karissa Rasmussen finally breaking through early in the third on a nice goal assisted by Maryjane Klunder and Halle Greenaway.  The girls then added two more goals.  A nice shot from Courtney Scott assists to Julia Sutherland and Mia McNab tied the game.  Then Rasmussen put the Rebels in the lead with an unassisted goal with just under 4 minutes left. The Rebels then survived an aggressive attack from the Gryphons and Halle Greenaway scored an empty net goal on a nice rush with 1 minute left with another assist to Klunder to seal the 4-2 victory.  The girls had their first victory of the tournament.

Game 2 - Scott Steps Up!The girls then played an exciting game against the Caledon Coyotes with both teams wearing the special jerseys for the battle. With a short bench, the Rebels played the game with 3 defence and moved Courtney Scott up to forward.  She didn't take long to get used to the new role as she scored 2 goals to lead the girls to a hard fought 2-1 win over an aggressive bunch from Caledon.  Mia McNab made a nice pass to Courtney on the second goal after stripping the Caledon defence of the puck.   The girls were now 2-0 and looking forward to a meeting with the excellent Georgina Team.Games 3 and 4 - vs Georgina The Rebels then had 2 consecutive games against the Georgina Golden Hawks including the Sunday Tournament Final. The Rebels showed their desire as they worked hard to skate with the large talented team.  They were unable to beat the excellent goalie for Georgina but showed a hungry team with a short bench can skate with anyone.  After two hard fought games, the girls were awarded the Silver Medal for a B Tournament!  Way to go girls and congratulations to the other TCDMHA teams who had a great showing.  Allison Hoy and Julia Sutherland won the player of the game awards for the last two games.

Special thanks to Joe Rutter and Heather Greenaway for all their work in getting the special jerseys together.  All were impressed with the jerseys and the girls wearing them.  The effort was second to none and is a good sign moving forward.

Thanks to all parents for the effort and i'm sure all enjoyed watching the team having fun in the pool,  at the hotel and on the ice.  What a great tournament.  The girls should all be proud of themselves for a medal winning performance against great teams.
