Midget Rep WOAA Finalists
The Township of Chatsworth and District "Moggie Valley Timber Inc." Midget Rep Rebels faced off in game 2 of the best of 3 WOAA Championship series against the Wingham Ironmen. Both teams, despite mediocre regular seasons, had defeated a number of teams on the way to the WOAA Championship round and it all came down to this one short series.
It was back and forth during the first period with good chances and excellent saves at both ends. The Rebels never quite pulled it together and found the spark that we had seen during much of the playoff run up until this series.
As the second period started, the Rebels were caught napping and the Ironmen took advantage and scored off the hop to take the lead 1 - 0.
The Rebels fought to come back but soon found themselves on a penalty kill. The Rebels found themselves down 2 0 when the Ironmen scored a powerplay goal.
The Rebels regrouped and began to apply pressure to the Ironmen. This led to a penalty shot opportunity for the Rebels. Cody Cunningham took the shot for the Rebels and made the most of the opportunity scoring a textbook goal to cut the Wingham lead in half.
The play in the second period continued with no one gaining a clear advantage. As the period dwindled to seconds, the Rebels relaxed and looked ahead to the break. The Ironmen pounced on the lull and before the Rebels could recover, Wingham scored 2 goals in 20 seconds as the period ended.
Despite being down 4 - 1, the Rebels started the 3rd strong and looked like the Rebels we have come to expect this season. The Rebels stormed the Ironmen's end from the opening face off. Wyatt Golem placed a pass tape to tape and Hunter Schultz finished the play, burying the puck behind the Wingham netminder. This cut the lead to 4 - 2.
The Rebels continued to push, but they could not manage to make up the deficit.

Thanks to all the players for a good season. Thank you to all the coaches, trainer, manager, volunteers, parents, TCDMHA and all the fans for making this season possible and fun.
Best wishes to those players who are "graduating" from minor hockey this season. Hopefully they take lots of lessons about teamwork, perseverance, fair play, and fun with them out into the world.
