I think I can, I think I can, ...
The Township of Chatsworth and District "Moggie Valley Timber Inc." Midget Rep Rebels faced elimination once again at the hands of the Drayton Defenders -- and the outcome was totally unexpected.

In the story of the little engine that could, the engine had to face a very difficult task as it attempted to climb up a huge hill pulling an entire train of cars.  Nobody was sure it could do it, but it believed in itself and just kept going "I think I can, I think I can,..." and kept trying and never gave up.  This is the story of the little Rebel team that could as they faced a team who had beaten them every outing this season and currently was leading them 2-0 in the best of 5 series.  The Rebels didn't give up when facing elimination and steep odds and they kept trying as they managed to win game three 5 - 4.  The Rebels slowly climbed the OMHA hill and in game 4 on Sunday, with their backs to the wall, they just kept chugging along.
The game was end to end with both teams desperate to score that first goal.  With just over 4 minutes left in the first period, the Rebels needed a change and Rebel Tyler Calhoun dumped it toward the Drayton net as the rest of the team changed on the fly.  The puck trickled between the Defender's pads and the Rebels led 1 - 0.
With about 30 seconds left in the first, Wyatt Golem chased a dump in by Austin McComb, blowing by the 2 defenders who were back and, being the first to the puck, threw it out front to Brandon Stewart who was rushing in and he one-timed it top corner.  2-0 Rebels to end the first.
Drayton was shocked to be down 2 goals and they hammered Rebel goalie Lawson Cumming every chance they got.  Cumming stood up to the pressure and the Rebels continued to apply pressure of their own with scoring chances at the other end as well.  Just over 5 minutes into the second, Golem once again made the pass as he and Cody Cunningham combined to assist McComb on the Rebels third goal of the game.
With 6 minutes left in the 2nd, Cunningham once again assisted McComb and the Rebels led 4 - 0.
Despite playing a strong game, the Defenders found themselves down four to nothing just over half way through the game.  They continued to force Cumming to make difficult saves and they never gave up.  Cumming had to fight right down to the last minute to protect his shut out (which he did successfully).
Two goals and an assist for McComb and a shut out for Cumming and a game which saw every Rebel contribute by playing hard every shift, skating hard both directions, and, especially by keeping the front of the Rebel net clear of open Defenders.
With the crest of the hill in sight and needing one more win to make it over this first OMHA hill, Rebels face the Defenders for game 5 in Drayton at 8:30 pm Wednesday.  Come out and cheer them on to see if "I think I can" becomes "I knew I could".
