Rough Weekend for the Midget Rep
The Township of Chatsworth and District "Moggie Valley Timber Inc." Midget Rep Rebels travelled to Huntsville this weekend to participate in the Winston Watson Memorial Tournament.  Unfortunately it seemed they forgot to pack their "A" game and the Rebels were winless on the weekend.

The tournament began Friday for the Rebels when they faced off against the Orono Leafs.  The Rebels couldn't seem to shake off the long drive and lost to the Leafs 1 - 0.
Saturday, with hopes of a better result, the Rebels headed back to the arena to face the Ayr Flames.  Unfortunately, once again, the Rebels weren't able to find the opponents net and the score at the end of 3 periods of play was Flames 2 and Rebels still scoreless.  Despite knowing at this point that their chances of advancing to play on Sunday were almost nil, the Rebels played a much better game Saturday evening when they faced off against the hometown Huntsville Otters.  Rebels took the lead less than 2 minutes into the game when Tyler Calhoun passed to Austin McComb who fired a shot which was redirected past the Otter netminder by Trenton Chegahno for the Rebels first goal of the tourney.  Otters managed to tie the game at 1 midway through the first but Chegahno put goal number 2 up on the scoreboard with a minute left in period 1 and once again the Rebels had a one goal lead.
Despite best efforts by the Rebels the Otters managed to score in the second to again tie the game and the second period ended with 2 goals each.  The Rebels fought hard in the 3rd but the Otters snuck one over the goal line with just over 3 minutes left in the game and the final score remained 3-2 in favour of the hometown Otters.  The Otters went on to trounce Orono in the Championship final winning that game 5 -1.
Despite coming out of the weekend with no wins, the Rebels did make a much stronger showing in their final match scoring 2 goals and leading the ultimate tournament champions for much of the match.  Hopefully this improved play continues for the week ahead as the Rebels face off against the strong Shallow Lake Lakers in Shallow Lake at 8:30 on Thursday and travel to the Milverton arena Friday to face Central Perth for the first time this season (7 pm start).  Let's go Rebels!
