A PLAYOFF SHUT-OUT and A HAT-TRICK
No one saw this one coming!
The ‘Air Tech Mechanical’ Bantam LL2 REBELS headed to Ripley for a rematch with the Wolves.  After Game 1 last week, the boys were prepared for another hard hitting, and evenly matched battle.

Surprisingly, the 1st period flew by penalty free and scoreless … until Jake Moran was finally able to shake off the Wolves defence and fire the puck in 5-hole, with 39 seconds left on the clock.

The 2nd period began with a REBEL heading to the box, but with a nice set up from Alex DeJong and Wes Houston a minute into the penalty, Jake earned another 5-hole goal, short-handed at 13:49.

Our defencemen did a great job guarding the line as the boys worked to keep the action in Ripley’s end.
Tanner Timbers sent a pass to Austin King for the shot on net, and Jake was there to bury the rebound to complete the hat-trick at 5:41.

Not exactly sure what went down a minute later, but a REBEL was heading to the box for a 4 minute rest.  Our boys battled with the aggressive pack of Wolves, and Jason Rudolph-MacLeod was instrumental in successfully killing off the penalty, with some amazing saves and his excellent on-point passing up to the neutral zone.
The REBELS went into the flood with a 3 – 0 lead.

Unlike the first game these two teams played, our boys weren’t about to let their lead slip away this time.  They kept the pressure on and were rewarded with a sweet goal from William Hoare, assisted by Kinger and Tanner at 9:48.

Less than a minute later, Dylan Ledingham made the pass to Jake and he skated in for a shot on net.  It was blocked, but Wes flew in for the rebound at 8:55.

The frustrated Wolves changed their goalies after that one.  The remainder of the game ticked by with action at both ends of the ice, but no more goals were added to the scoreboard.

Jason earned the SHUTOUT stopping 33 shots … and after 3 full 15 minute periods, our determined REBELS had let a whopping 49 shots go at Ripley’s busy netminders.

FINAL SCORE for this WOAA Elite Division Playoff Game: REBELS 5 – Wolves 0
