A
determined Horton Concrete Novice Rep Rebels team took to the ice this
afternoon in Keady vs the Bruce Peninsula Predators. With an
emphasis on competing for every puck on every play the Rebels did not
disappoint
Carrying the play from the opening faceoff, the Rebels were finally able to beat the Preds’ net minder with about 3 minutes left in the first after a brilliant end to end rush from defencemen Braden King, resulted in a nice pass to the side of the net where a wide open Grayson Gibbons made no mistake in ripping the one-timer into the back of the net.
The Rebels continued to press and Gibbons was able to bang in a loose puck a little over a minute later to go up 2-0 after 1 period; assists to Colton King and Hayden Curtis. A scoreless second continued to see strong efforts from all Rebel players. The game remained at 2-0 until the Preds’ pulled their net minder in the last minute of the third which allowed Cohen Cook to bury the insurance marker from long range to ice the win with 15 seconds left. Rebel’s goaltender Grady Fritsch was strong in net, turning aside all Predator chances, including a couple of breakaways. Special mention to all of the D-men; Austin Edwards, Rogan Vanstone, Holden Cosby and Braden King for their stellar work in keeping the puck in the Preds end to allow the offence to work and the rest of the team for maintaining their full effort for the full 30 minutes. Great job everyone!
