WOAA Atom Girls Maroon CHAMPS
The Desboro Lions Club Atom Rebels certainly earned their year end tournament win this weekend and provided the fans with some great hockey.

Saturday morning saw them face Kincardine and the girls skated away with a 1-0 win.  Claire Vokes netted the lone goal.  Allison Hoy earned the shutout.

Saturday evening they met Grey Highlands where they played to a 3-3 tie.  This was an exciting, edge of your seat game where the girls led the first and second period, West Grey came back late in the third to tie it up.  Julia Sutherland scored two goals with Claire Vokes adding a single.  The tie put the girls 1/2 a point ahead of West Grey to advance to the final game Sunday afternoon.

Sunday afternoon had the girls facing Grey Highlands again in the finals.  Another edge of your seat game between two very evenly matched teams. Hard work and perseverance led the girls to a 2-1 win.  Julia Sutherland and Claire Vokes each had one goal.

These girls played with all they had and it paid off for them this weekend.  Each and every one of you should be very proud of your accomplishments this weekend and all year.  It has been so great to watch all the girls grow and have fun playing the sport of hockey.  Thank you for entertaining us fans each time you hit the ice!
