Bronze Medal for the TCDMHA Novice Girls HL Rebels at the WOAA Playoff Tourney HL Division
The TCDMHA Novice Girls HL team capped off their season on a high note with their 3rd place finish in their WOAA HL division this weekend in Owen Sound.

In round robin format, the Rebels faced off against the top ranked Kincardine Kinucks HL at the Bayshore 10 am Saturday morning.  Despite some scoring chances for the Rebels, the Kincardine Kinucks came out on top in the first 1/2 of the game and took an early lead of 3-0 but that didn't slow down the Rebels who turned it up with 12 seconds left in the 2nd period with Sophie King delivering a beauty pass to Lily King who buried the Rebels first goal of the tourney.  The 3rd period proved to be a back and forth battle between the 2 teams but Kincardine managed to score again with 2 minutes left in the game.  The Rebels didn't give up and moments later Alexa Stephenson responded with an unassisted goal for the Rebels to bring the score 4-2.  The Rebels battled hard to the final buzzer but it wasn't enough to overtake the game and the final score remained 4-2. Fantastic saves were made by Rebels goaltender Amelia Cook to keep the game close.

Later in the afternoon, the Rebels faced the Owen Sound Ice Hawks at the Julie McArthur Recreation Center. The Owen Sound Ice Hawks came out strong and found the back of the net in the first few minutes of the game. The Rebels responded a few minutes later with a goal of their own by Sophie King assisted by Lily King to even out the score 1-1.  The game was back and forth with neither team scoring until Chloe Stephen shot one past the Ice Hawks goalie late in the 2nd period to take the lead 2-1 for the Rebels.  The Rebels carried this momentum into the 3rd period and Sophie King buried another one for the Rebels to lead the game 3-1.  The Owen Sound Ice Hawks didn't give up and managed to score midway through the 3rd period to narrow the gap 3-2. The 2 teams continued to battle hard but with 31 seconds left in the game the Ice Hawks managed to squeak one more goal to tie the game with a final score 3-3.  After all the round robin games were completed, it was determined that the 3rd place Rebels team would have an opportunity to play the 4th place Ice Hawks again in the WOAA HL Consolation final on Sunday.  Special thanks to Carissa Rodger for stepping in as the Rebels goalie for this game!

Early Sunday afternoon, the Rebels geared up one final time to face off again against the Owen Sound Ice Hawks.  The Rebels must have gotten their rest Saturday night because they came out on fire and hungry for the win. Alexa Stephenson started things off by working the puck up the ice through the Ice Hawks team and Chloe Stephen finished the play by firing the puck past the Ice Hawks goalie. Both teams worked hard and the back and forth play continued on for the remainder of the first period and midway through 2nd period until Sophie King scooped up a loose puck out of the Rebels defensive zone and carried it down the ice for an awesome breakaway goal. The Rebels kept up the momentum and fired several shots at the Owen Sound Goalie with Sophie King finding the back of the net again late in the 2nd period with an assist from Alexa Stephenson to lead the game 3-0.  Early in the 3rd period, Mylee Snyder skated the puck out of the defensive zone and scored another beauty breakaway goal for the Rebels to lead the game 4-0. The Rebels continued to battle hard throughout the 3rd period with Alexa Stephenson squeezing in one more goal with assists from Chloe Stephen and Grace Torrie to bring the final score 5-0 to earn the girls the Bronze Playoff Medal for the WOAA HL division.  Goaltender Amelia Cook recorded the shut out with help from her defensive team of Sommer McComb, Kylie Clarke, Molly Klunder, Carissa Rodger and Mylee Snyder and great work from all the Rebels forwards Mikayla Greenaway, Grace Torrie, Sophie King, Alexa Stephenson, Chloe Stephen and Lily King who kept the pressure going in the offensive zone!!!

Great job girls & special thanks to our coaching staff for making this a fun and successful season for this young team!!!!
