On Sunday afternoon, the TCDMHA Novice Girls HL team travelled to Southampton to face the Saugeen Shores Storm and got their first win of the season. It was our first game after a great showing at the "Pink in the Rink" tournament in South Huron and it was evident in on the ice the team cohesiveness and confidence the girls have found after a fun weekend together.
The girls came out flying with Alexa Stephenson getting the first goal 2:27 minutes into the game with an assist from Sophie King. Next, Chloe Stephen found her groove and got 6 unassisted breakaway goals to earn herself a double hat trick!!!! The girls continued to dominate and play hard making several passes and great defensive play. Next, Alexa Stephenson found the net again with breakaway goal for the Rebels late in the 2nd Period.
Rebel goalie, Sommer McComb, played fantastic stopping some great shots by the Storm and almost earned a shutout until the final 3 minutes of the game when Saugeen Shores Storm 's Victoria Buckland managed to sneak one by. Rebel Mikayla Greenaway also found the net with 2:41 left in the game to make the final score 9-1.
