Our TCDMHA Novice Girls HL Rebels made their big debut in Walkerton tonight as they faced the Capitals for their season opener. Excitement was in the air since it was the first game ever for many on this team. Unfortunately, the girls didn't come home with a win but they played well and had a blast out on the ice.The Rebels had a strong showing in the first period against the Capitals with end to end back and forth play and both goalies making fantastic saves but Walkerton managed sneak one in the first period to take an early lead of 1-0.
The 2nd period proved to be a little more difficult for our Rebels as Walkerton found their grove and took a commanding lead of 10-0. But, our girls never gave up and started to make a comeback in the 3rd period with Chloe Stephen getting our first goal with 6 minutes left in the game. 20 seconds later, Alexa Stephenson scored with assists from Sommer McComb and Kylie Clarke. Moments later, Chloe Stephen fired another shot to get our third goal. The Rebels continued to battle hard but unfortunately the game was curfewed with 3.5 minutes left on the board resulting with a final score of 10-3. Thanks to Carissa Rodger for all her stellar saves during the game - you played amazing as a first time goalie!
