See-Saw battle in Rd 2 for Horton Concrete Novice Rep Rebels vs. Central Perth
Round two of the Hodges Division Novice Rep playoffs began Friday night for the Horton Concrete Novice Reps with a trip to Monkton to face the Central Perth Wildcats.  The combination of it being a school day and the 6pm start time saw our boys come out a bit sluggish on the big ice and that was all it took for the Wildcats to pounce.  Rebels goalie Jacob Fluney was by far the busiest player on the ice and made many saves but was not able to hold them off forever and the Wildcats took game 1 with a 4-0 score.

Game two, Saturday morning in Keady; after a good night’s sleep and shorter drive saw the dressing room buzzing with enthusiasm before the game and the Rebels play on the ice reflected it.  The boys forechecked and backchecked with purpose and were rewarded when Kody Cook was able to bank in a shot from behind the goal line to take a 1-0 lead in the first.  The second saw more of the same and Carter Frook was able to add two more on virtually identical shots low, inside the far post to take a 3-0 lead.  Assists by Matthew LaFond on the first, and Cook on the second.  Frook would complete his hattrick in the 3rd, assists from Cook and Colton Klages.  The Wildcats would sneak one past Fluney, but the game would end with a dominant 4-1 win for the Rebels.

Game three, Monday at 6pm in Keady saw the Rebels hoping for a sluggish Central Perth team to show up.  The Rebels were energetic and ready to go, but despite the time, the Wildcats also came to play.  Once again, goalie Jacob Fluney was the busiest player on the ice as the ‘Cats attacked again and again, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first before Colton King was able to score on a rebound from Cook and Hunter McComb to end the first down 3-1.  Unfortunately that was as close as it would get and Central Perth would keep up a blistering attack and eventually ended up with a 7-1 win.  Game 4 is this Friday in Monkton at 7pm.  Let’s go Rebels!
