The Jennifer Tedford Remax Midget C girls team had a busy weekend starting their OWHA Playdown schedule with one home and one away game.
The Rebels hosted Grey Highlands Saturday morning in Chatsworth. The Shooting Stars started the scoring right off the first whistle putting us down 1-0. The Rebels Skylar Golem & Grace Kuhl answered back immediately and the score was 1-1 in the first minute of play. The rest of the period was a lot of back and forth action with each team wanting to take back the lead.
Grey Highlands scored in the 2nd putting them back in the lead. Two more goal in the 3rd period, the score 4-1 but the Rebels didn't give up. Lillian Harshman was able to knock in our 2nd goal late in the 3rd but the Shooting Stars didn't back down scoring one more time in the last seconds of the 3rd winning the game 5-2.
Sunday brought on a new day and a new game as the Jennifer Tedford Remax Midget C girls team travelled the long road to Lions Head Sunday afternoon to take on the Bruce Peninsula Predators and played one of their best games yet. Incredible effort by each player as they battled the Predators. The first 2 periods produced no goals but their determination grew strong.
Early in the 3rd, Bruce Peninsula was able to get one past us and scored the first and only goal of the game. This was an exciting game to watch and it could have gone either way as both teams played their hardest. Great work girls! Lets bring that same effort to Southampton on Tuesday as we go back to our regular league game vs Saugeen Shores.
