KEEPING EVERYONE ON THE EDGE OF THEIR SEAT FOR YEAR END TOURNAMENT
The Scotiabank Bantam HL Girls had an excellent WOAA year end tournament

Their Saturday started with a 10:30 am game in the big town of Teeswater against the Walkerton Capitals "C" team.  It was Walkerton that hit the score board first with a goal in the first period.  And in the second period neither the Rebels or the Capitals could get a goal, Rebels goalie Jadzia Leask was not letting anything past her!

In period three both teams tried their best and we all thought that was it but with 1:33 seconds left Aly Airdrie tied the game up with the assistance of Carly Acton.  The girls were pumped!!

Game two was at 1:30 pm also at the Teeswater Arena against the South Bruce Blades HL team.  This was a nail biter, "sit on the edge of your seats" kind of game.  These two teams faced off with one thing in mind and neither team where going to give.  Our goalie Jadzia Leask was once again awesome between the pipes and there was no way that anything was hitting the back of her net.

Period 1 and period 2 were both scoreless, and slightly stressful.  Finally in period three Jolina McLean sent a beautiful pass to Aly Airdrie and then the Rebels where on the board.  But with only 18 seconds left in the game, the Blades scored and tied the game up 1-1.

Game 3 was at the Wingham Arena against the Mount Forest Rams at 4:30pm.  The Rebels were ready and knew what they had to do but the tie or the win just wasn't in the cards for this game.  Despite the girls best effort they just couldn't get that bounce that we needed but it wasn't for a lack of trying so the Rams took the win 2-0 for the Rebels final game of the tournament.

What a season these girls have had, they have bonded, made friends for life and improved their hockey skills 10 fold, an amazing season! Thank you girls for letting me be a part of it, Mom Michelle XO

The Community Hockey Sponsorship program has always been Scotiabank’s way of showing our commitment to kids’ hockey, a sport which unifies our nation, community by community. That’s why each of our more than 1,000 branches financially supports a local hockey team, league or association in their community. We know that being part of a team gives children more than just a chance to play, but also a chance to become involved in their community. That’s why we’re encouraging our branch staff and sponsored teams to donate their time – the equivalent to one practice – towards making a positive impact in their community. By inspiring and participating in volunteer initiatives, we’re committed to help communities get stronger together, like a team. Because that’s what Canada is all about. Throughout the year we’ll be recognizing and celebrating teams across the country with unique hockey experiences like visits from NHL Alumni or the Stanley Cup!
