What a Weekend for the ScotiaBank Bantam HL Girls!
After 2 wins on Friday, the ScotiaBank Bantam HL Girls played on Saturday at 11:30 am against the Burlington BGHC Green.

Period one was a battle of the goalies and our goalie Jadzia Leask was letting nothing in.  Period two was a little different and it was Burlington that was on the scoreboard first, as hard as the Rebels tried to get a goal of their own it was just not in the cards and Burlington scored another in the 3rd period and ending the game 2-0.

Carly Acton received MVP for this game.  So the Rebels had to wait..........and wait......... and wait some more.  At 10:30 pm on Saturday night, we found out we where playing in the semi-finals!  An  amazing accomplishment for these girls whom have worked so hard.

So today they hit the ice, against one of their own regular league opponents, the Kincardine Kinucks.  The ScotiaBank HL girls have come a long way since the first game against the Kinucks on November  01/15, the score for that game was 7-0 for the Kinucks.  Today Kincardine faced a totally different team.  It was Aly Airdrie with a beautiful break away that scored the first goal in the first period.  But two minutes after Kincardine answered with a goal of their own sneaking one past goalie Jadzia Leask, now it was a tie 1-1.  Period two was a lot of back and forth but neither goalie was giving at all.  Period 3 was an exciting, nerve racking, stressful period.  And with only 5.2 seconds left in the game, Kincardine poked one in ending the game 2-1.  Goalie, Jadzia Leask earned MVP this game.

The Bantam ScotiaBank Girls made every coach, trainer, manager and parent proud this weekend and every single girl on the team made a difference; Janna Wardell, Kyla Thalen, Brooklyn Mole, Jo McLean, Jadzia Leask, Carly Juby, Sara Boulter, Alicia Beachamp, Aly Airdrie, Carly Acton, and our call up players Sarah Madill and Jayden Thalen, you are all the bomb!

The girls hit the ice again on Saturday February 27 against the South Bruce Blades in Chatsworth come on out and cheer these ladies on!!

The Community Hockey Sponsorship program has always been Scotiabank’s way of showing our commitment to kids’ hockey, a sport which unifies our nation, community by community. That’s why each of our more than 1,000 branches financially supports a local hockey team, league or association in their community. We know that being part of a team gives children more than just a chance to play, but also a chance to become involved in their community. That’s why we’re encouraging our branch staff and sponsored teams to donate their time – the equivalent to one practice – towards making a positive impact in their community. By inspiring and participating in volunteer initiatives, we’re committed to help communities get stronger together, like a team. Because that’s what Canada is all about. Throughout the year we’ll be recognizing and celebrating teams across the country with unique hockey experiences like visits from NHL Alumni or the Stanley Cup!
