WOAA Champions!!
The Chatsworth Legion PeeWee C team were off to their WOAA year end tournament in Ripley this snowy April weekend.

The Rebels were paired up against Kincadine for the first game of the tournament.  The game was scoreless until later in the first when Abby Vokes was able to score assisted by Emily Meuser.  It wasn't long after that the team got another goal from Tara Meikle unassisted.  Then it was on to the second period where the Rebels earned another goal from Jessica Davidson assisted by Kloey Jex.  In the third there was many shot on the Kincardine Goaltender but the team was able to get one more goal from Emma MacDonnell assisted by Emily Meuser.  The game ended in a 4-0 win for the Rebels and this advanced them into the Championship game on Sunday!

Sunday we were matched up with The Markdale Shooting Stars who has been a great competitor all year for the Rebels and this game was no different.  The first period was a tense one and The Rebels were able to get a goal from Abby Vokes assisted by Meghan Prentice.  In the second there was back and fourth play and then before we knew it the Shooting Stars were able to get one past our goalie this tied up the game and the rest of the second remained scoreless.  Finally the third started and it was a nail bitter with shots on net but no goals until 5:14 when Meghan Prentice finally was able to get the goal that gave the Rebels the lead of 2-1.  The last 5 min were intense as Markdale was not giving up with time outs called on both sides Markdale pulled their goalie and it was a battle but then Abby Vokes got an empty netter to seal the win of 3-1 for the WOAA Championship Maroon Division!

The girls now have the week to prepare for Provincial and our team would like to wish all the Rebel teams good luck down in Provincial! Safe travels and have fun!!

Royal Canadian Legion Chatsworth Branch 464 As important as our support of veterans and their dependants is to Legion, Ontario Command and its branch members find the time and energy to make significant contributions to our communities. Branches support other community based organizations financially, using funds raised through clubhouse operations, bingos, raffles and break open tickets. Each year, hundreds of thousands of dollars are donated by branches in Ontario to other community and service organizations. As well as financial support, in many communities, the Legion hall is the main meeting place and venue for other community based organizations. Most branches provide this service free of charge. As well as support for others, Legion branches operate, or help to organize and operate many community programs. These include public safety programs, programs for seniors, meals on wheels, sport and youth programs.
