Busy weekend for Tykes
It was a busy weekend for the Don Crawford Contracting Tyke Rebels with a pair of games. Despite solid efforts and some timely goaltending, the Rebels dropped both games with identical 6-2 scores.
Friday night in Shallow Lake, fresh off a dominant win in their previous meeting the Rebels were brimming with confidence. It was a different Laker squad that took the ice though with a more balanced attack. Despite controlling the play for stretches at a time, the Laker goalie would not be beat until Colton King pounced on a juicy rebound after a hard shot from Billy Catto. A few shifts later Braden King was able to fire one through the 5 hole to round out the 6-2 loss.
It was a very similar game Saturday morning in Desboro against the visiting Falcons from Hanover. Despite being fairly evenly matched and having short stretches of Rebel sustained attack, it was the Falcons that were able to capitalize on more of their chances. This in spite of a valiant effort and strong performance from Rebel goalie Grady Fritsch. Once again Colton was able to finish off a breakaway after a nice give and go with Billy. Billy finished off the scoring with one of his own on a hard drive the snuck past the Falcon goalie.
