Fun Times At Provincials
It was an incredible accomplishment for the TCDMHA Town & Country Garden Centre Midget Girls team to advance to the OWHA Provincial Championships last weekend, being one of the youngest midget teams participating with half their squad first year midget. Although the weekend didn't go as planned, the girls put on a good show for their fans.

They faced the strong offensive team from West Nippissing in their first game Friday morning. Rebels goaltender Ceaira Hiemstra stood on her head to keep her team in the game. West Nipissing scored 2 before Emily Moore, assisted by Carlie Cook and Mikkayla Longland, found the back of the net for the Rebels. West Nipissing managed to get one more before the end of the third, leading to a 3-1 loss for the Rebels.

Game 2 came Friday night against our rivals from Ilderton. It was a nail biter of a game from start to finish. Ilderton managed to get on the scoreboard before the end of the first period. The Rebels came back strong, but were unable to put one past the strong Ilderton netminder and they lost 1-0.

Game 3 was Saturday afternoon against the Bancroft Jets. The Jets managed to score 4 in the first period, putting the Rebels in a tough spot. The Rebels put in their veteran 3rd year goalie, Amandah Gill, to start the second and came back strong. Morgan Williamson put the pass right on Kaitlin Brancati's stick for a breakaway and beauty goal. They managed to hold the Jets off for the rest of the game, but were unable to score any more goals and it was a 4-1 loss for the Rebels.

The midget girls would like to congratulate their bantam girls on making it to the bronze medal round and our peewee and atom girls for bringing home gold! Way to go Rebels!! What an incredible accomplishment to have all 4 of our teams advance to provincials and even more amazing to come home with 2 gold medals from our small centre. This is a credit to the dedicated bench staff and supportive parents in our association, because without them none of this would have been possible.
