BARRY'S CONSTRUCTION ATOM LL - FINALIST
The Barrys Construction TCDMHA Atom LL Rebels were edged 3-2 by the Shallow Laker Lakers #1 last night in game 2 of the North Division Championship.
With determination the Rebels came out of the dressing room and left everything they had on the ice.
Starting the scoring was Wesley Houston who snapped in a nice pass across the net by Curtis Wade, assisted also by Daniel Mustard. The Lakers answered back late in the first period with a goal from Oscar French Jones.
The 2nd period saw more end to end action, and the Lakers were able to take the lead with a goal from Quinton Cardinal after he tapped in a nice rebound. Each team had several scoring opportunities at each end, and the goalies were making some great saves to keep their nets clear.
The 3rd period saw more back and forth action, and the Lakers added another marker at 9:35 by Darryl Blair. The Rebels fought back, and after a scramble in the front of the Lakers sprawling goalie and defense Dalan Frook was able to find the loose puck to bring the Rebels within a goal. Adam Gorman had the assist.
As the clock counted down the Rebels pulled their goalie with 1:25 remaining and had several exciting chances to tie the game. Unfortunately they were not able to pull it off, and the Lakers took home the trophy.
Showing our sportsmanship and pride, the Rebels immediately lined up after the final buzzer and shook hands with the winners.
Well done Rebels!
Our goal was to make it to the Championship series and you accomplished it with teamwork and perseverance. We had a season record of 10 wins and 5 losses.
Your parents and coaching staff are proud.
