Rebels even the series
The Great Lakes Frame Company Township of Chatsworth Atom Rep Rebels came out slow against the Mount Forest Rams during the second game of the WOAA Championships.

The Rebels didn’t manage a shot in the first period and, although Rebel goalie, Robbie Hann, denied a number of Ram attempts. The Ram’s Michel Rice put one between the pipes in the dying minutes of the first to give the Rams a 1-0 lead going into the second.

The Rebels showed a little more life in the second, denying the Rams a shot on net, but the Rebels didn’t manage many shots of their own.

Finally, in the third, the Rebels came out to play with Wyatt Golem finding the mesh to tie the score with assists to Tyson Weppler and Riley Cook. Near the mid point of the third, with a beautiful play, the Rebels Josh Currie scored the go ahead goal unassisted. The Rebels still hadn’t allowed the Rams a shot in nearly 2 periods but, unfortunately, the Rebels let down their guard and the Ram’s Eric McLeod came back to tie the game. With a quick burst of saves at each end to finish up the third period with the crowd on the edge of their seats, the score still remained tied at the end of regulation.

The Rebels came out strong again in overtime, but couldn’t get one past the Ram’s goalie. At the midpoint of the sudden death period, the Rebel’s Wyatt Golem was hauled down on a break. The ref’s hand was up for the penalty call, but Golem still managed the shot while on the ice. Rebels win!!! -assists to Cook and Cory Rasmussen.

Game 3 is Monday in Desboro @ 7pm. Be there early to grab a spot by the glass as both games thus far in the series have been nail biters decided in overtime.
