The Great Lakes Frame Company Township of Chatsworth Atom Rep Rebels are 1 win away from advancing to the WOAA championships.
The Rebels faced off against the Lucknow Sepoys. The Sepoys were up in the round robin and a win for them would clinch them a trip to the Championships. The Rebels were in a must win situation with a loss ending their season. Both teams fought hard, and the game remained scoreless through the first and much of the second period. Late in the second, Lucknow drew first blood with an unassisted goal. This took some of the wind out of the sails of the Rebels, but after a team huddle at the end of the second, the Rebels came out hard. Just past the midway point of the period, the Rebels Chris Hardman scored to tie the game – with the assist to Aaron McConnell. With only 16 seconds left, it looked like the game was heading into overtime when Rebels forward Austin McComb scored twice – with assists to Cory Rasmussen, Wyatt Golem and Jordon Longland – to end the game 3-1 in favour of the Rebels and keep their playoff hopes alive. A win next Sunday (12:15 in Keady) against Ripley should move them through to the WOAA championship round. Last time these teams faced off, it ended in a tie after 4 periods.
