Hat-trick for Cunningham
The Township of Chatsworth and District "Moggie Valley Timber Inc." Midget Rep Rebels got one step closer to the next round of WOAA play. In round robin play with home and away against both Walkerton and Listowel, the Rebels came away with win #2 vs the Walkerton Capitals.

Rebels opened the scoring at 13:27 of the first when Trenton Chegahno assisted Cody Cunningham in his first goal of the game.
Just before the eleven minute mark Walkerton capitalized on a turnover and the game stood 1 all.
The game remained tied at one throughout the first with a number of chances at both ends which were turned away by the goaltenders. With only 46 seconds left in the period Tyler Calhoun assisted Hunter Schultz who found the back of the net and Rebels took a 2-1 lead into the second.
The second period saw saves at both ends. Three minutes in the Rebels battled through centre ice. As two Capitals converged on Schultz he flipped the puck ahead to Wyatt Golem as he crossed the blue. Golem disappeared in a wall of Capitals but still managed to slide a pass to the tape of Brandon Stewart's stick as he flew into the Walkerton zone, making a beautiful move to blow by the final defender and handcuff the goalie to increase the Rebel's lead 3-1.
Just over a minute later while on the penalty kill, Calvin Stewart chased the puck into the Capital's end and pursued it behind the Walkerton net. He took the hit behind the net and came away with the puck spotting Cunningham heading to the front of the net, Calvin placed the pass on his stick and in one motion Cunningham had it in the mesh behind the goalie. 4-1 Rebels.
At the nine minute mark Jordan Beirnes assisted Calhoun as the Rebels pulled ahead 5-1. Winning 5-1 halfway through the game the Rebels felt the outcome was set. Capitals had other ideas as they scored two to end the second 5-3 and they came out hard in the third with multiple good chances. Rebel's goalie Ty Mountain made a number of excellent plays to hold the Capitals at bay. Finally with just over four minutes left in the game, Austin McComb found the back of the net (assist to Calhoun) to increase the Rebel's lead with a score of 6-3 and then at 1:26 Nicol and Chegahno assisted as Cody Cunningham scored for the hat trick. Rebels won the game 7-3 and now have 4 points in the series with Walkerton and Listowel.
Rebels face Listowel Sunday February 25 at 7pm in Listowel and March 4 at 2pm in Markdale. Let's go Rebels!!!
