BANTAMS Finish 4TH in the PROVINCE!!!
Qualifying 3rd from our WOAA region for the 2015 Provincial Championships, the COUNTRY CHARM MENNONITE FURNITURE Bantam 'C' REBELS went in as the underdogs.
They managed to surpass all expectations and finished 4th in Ontario, just an over-time goal away from the Bronze Medal.

This team of 16 ladies came into the 2014-15 season with a combination of rep and houseleague backgrounds, and one actually in her 1st year of hockey.  Through hard work and determination (and some excellent coaching) they have proven that they deserve to be right where they are ... 4TH in ONTARIO.

Game 1 : Friday morning vs SUDBURY : 2 - 1 WIN
Battling nerves having to face a tough northern team first, it was a great relief when the REBELS got on the board early in the 1st with a goal from Grace Kivell assisted by Erica McComb at 8:35.
Just 33 seconds later Sammy DeJong added another assisted by Kirsten Sutter.
The Wolves narrowed the gap with a goal at 10:21 in the 3rd, but Hannah Mustard was outstanding in our net and held them off to the buzzer.

Game 2 :  Friday afternoon vs ILDERTON : 3 - 0 LOSS
Despite an impressive effort by goaltender Tatem Edwards and her strong defence, the Jets managed to take a 2 - 0 lead in the 1st period and added another in the final minute of the 2nd.  The 3rd went end to end, but remained scoreless for both teams.

Game 3 : Saturday afternoon vs COLD CREEK : 2 - 2 TIE
The Comets took the lead in the 1st, but Erica tied it up at 11:11 in the 2nd, assisted by Lillian Harshman.
Sammy got the go ahead goal at 5:02, with the help of Kirsten and Ashlyn Mackison
Just a minute into the 3rd, the Comets struck again on a 5 on 3 to tie the game at 2.  Both Hannah and the Comets goalie denied any other shots, leaving the game a tie.

With a 1-1-1 record, the girls tied Sudbury for 2nd place in their pool ... but since they had beat Sudbury head to head, the REBELS moved on to the Quarter-Finals.

Game 4 : QUARTER-FINAL Saturday night vs RUSSELL CASTOR : 1 - 0 SHUTOUT WIN
Sammy found the back of the net for the lone goal of the game at 11:27 in the 2nd, assisted by Kisten.
The girls played most of the 2nd short-handed, and Tatem kept the Coyotes out of her net earning the Shutout.
With this win, it secured their place as the 3rd TCDMHA team to move onto the Semis.  AMAZING!

Game 5 : SEMI-FINAL Sunday morning vs SAULT STE MARIE : 3 - 0 LOSS
The Storm scored twice in the 1st period, and managed to keep us out of their net completely.  We pulled Hannah in the final minutes of the game, but the Storm got control of the puck and scored in our empty net.
Still with the hope of a BRONZE medal, the girls would have to face Ilderton again.

Game 6 : BRONZE MEDAL GAME Sunday afternoon vs ILDERTON : 3 - 2 Over-Time LOSS
The REBELS came out flying and the 1st period went end to end with no score, until the Jets snuck one in at :03 to end the period up by 1.
Madison Vokes tied it up at 9:53 in the 2nd, assisted by Kaylin Mustard ... and Erica put the REBELS ahead at 5:24 in the 3rd, with the help of Grace.
Unfortunately, a minute later the Jets tied it up again ... and that lead to Over-Time.
In a scramble in front of our net at 6:35, Tatem made a beautiful save, but the puck got loose and the Jets pushed in the rebound.
It was a heartbreaking loss for the girls, but an experience they will remember forever ... and incentive to get back there next year and go for it again.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BANTAM 'C' REBELS for showing us all what you're made of.
Be proud ... Enjoy your 5 month break and we'll see you back on the ice in September.
To our Captain Jessica Moran, we hope a summer of rest brings you back concussion free for the next year's season.  You make a great cheerleader, but we all missed having you out there.
To our amazing coaches Brad Moran, Ken Kivell, Kevin Sutter, and Scott Batterman, trainer Linda Thompsett and Manager Jeanne McLennan ... thank you for all the hours you dedicated to helping our girls get where they are today.  Hopefully we'll be lucky enough to have you back on the bench again next year.
